HARTA and Historic Forks of the Wabash Team Up for Summer Fun

Mark your calendars for July 15th from 5:30-9:00 p.m. HARTA (Huntington Area Recreational Trails Association) and the Historic Forks of the Wabash are teaming up to host the 1st annual FORKS OF THE WABASH UNCORKED on the grounds of the Historic Park located at 3011 W Park Dr. Huntington.

This event will feature 8 wineries and 4 micro-breweries from around the State, food trucks, a silent auction, and the Todd Harrold Band. Participants will be able to sample wines and beers from all the exhibitors and can purchase full glasses or bottles of your favorites, purchase food from well know local vendors, all while supporting two organizations in our community.

HARTA’S mission is to grow and maintain the trail system throughout Huntington City and County. The trails add greatly to the overall enjoyment of our outdoor spaces and ultimately to the health and wellbeing of people in our area. The organization has acquired Schenkel Station (the old Wabash Passenger Terminal) to act as the Hub of the trail system. Ultimately, it is their goal to connect Huntington trails to those in Allen and Wabash Counties along with other surrounding counties.

The focus of the Historic Forks of the Wabash Park is to preserve the site of prominent events in the history of Huntington. This location is significant for its importance to the Miami Indians, both before and after the arrival of European settlers, and the struggles involved in the interactions of Native Americans, pioneers, and the US Government. Educating our community about this rich cultural heritage is key to the preservation of this place.
Proceeds from the Uncorked event will be shared between these two organizations to benefit their programs. So, pack up your lawn chairs and come out and enjoy an evening of fun on the Banks of the Wabash. FORKS OF THE WABASH UNCORKED WILL BE HELD, RAIN OR SHINE! Participants must be 21 and over. Off-site parking with shuttle service will be available.
